LANSING, MI — Lottery players across the country are in for a chance to win the third-largest Mega Millions jackpot of all time Friday night, as the projected jackpot for the July 22 drawing is $660 million. It could be even bigger tomorrow if ticket sales exceed expectations.
The jackpot’s cash value is estimated at $388.0 million.
AUSTIN – After there was no winner for Tuesday night’s Mega Millions jackpot drawing, Texas Lottery® players now have a chance to play for the game’s biggest prize in 18 months. The Mega Millions jackpot for the Friday, July 22 drawing is estimated at $660 million annually, the third largest jackpot prize in the game’s history and the ninth largest in US lottery history. Friday’s drawing offers an estimated cash value of $388.0 million. If there is no jackpot winner for tonight’s Mega Millions drawing, the jackpot prize for the Tuesday, July 26 drawing will reach an estimated $790 million annually.

Since the start of 2022, five Texas Lottery players have won second-tier Mega Millions prizes of $1 million or more, including two during the current jackpot run. A Houston resident claimed the $1,000,510 second-place prize for the May 13 drawing and an Ingram resident claimed the $2 million second-place prize for the June 17 drawing.
Mega Millions is played by selecting five numbers from a field of 70 and one Megaball number from another field of 25 numbers. To win the Mega Millions jackpot, players must match all six numbers, including the Mega Ball. Players matching fewer numbers may not win the jackpot, but may still leave winners. Mega Millions currently offers a starting jackpot of $20 million and a second tier (match 5+0) prize of $1 million. By selecting the Megaplier® feature for $1 more per play, players can multiply their non-jackpot winnings by two, three, four or five times, winning up to $5 million.
Drawings are aired every Tuesday and Friday at 10:12 PM. CT Texas Lottery players can purchase Mega Millions tickets at more than 20,000 Texas Lottery retailers across the state. Ticket sales for the next Mega Millions drawing will close at 9:45 p.m. CT on Friday, July 22. A retailer who sells a jackpot-winning Mega Millions ticket is eligible to receive a retailer bonus of up to $1 million.
The cash option for tonight’s drawing is valued at $388 million.

There was no jackpot winner in Friday’s Mega Millions drawing.
According to the Mega Millions website, the grand prize for the Tuesday, July 26 drawing will be an estimated $790 million with a cash option of $464.4 million.
The jackpot would be the third largest in Mega Millions history and the fourth largest for a United States lottery (see chart below).
The numbers drawn on Friday 22 July 2022 were: 14 – 40 – 60 – 64 – 66 and Mega Ball 16. Megaplayer was 3x. Friday’s jackpot was $660 million.
Although no one won it all, there were four million dollar prize winners. Three tickets sold in New Jersey, New York and Delaware matched five white balls and gave Megaplayer a chance to win $3 million. Also, a ticket sold in Virginia won $1 million.
Mega Millions hasn’t won since April 15 when a ticket sold in Tennessee won $20 million – the second time the jackpot has been won in two drawings.
Meanwhile, the Powerball jackpot for Saturday night’s drawing is $119 million with a cash option of $69.2 million, according to the Powerball website.
How can I play Mega Millions?
Mega Millions drawings are held every Tuesday and Friday at 11 p.m. The cost is $2 per ticket, but you can add a MegaPlayer for $1, which will increase your potential prize amount to five times the original prize (excluding the jackpot).
Each player chooses five numbers from 1 to 70 for the white balls and one number from 1 to 25 for the mega ball. However, you can also have a lottery machine generate a random quick pick for you.
