Training of Elections Officials in Connection with General Elections-2023 of Provincial Assembly of Punjab

The Provincial Election Commissioner of Punjab has written a letter to all the District Election Commissioners in Punjab, directing them to conduct training for election officials immediately after the Eid holidays.

The letter states that the training will be conducted for presiding officers, senior assistant presiding officers, and polling officers.

The letter also states that the education authorities of each district should be approached to exempt those teaching staff who have been appointed as presiding officers, senior assistant presiding officers, and polling officers from examination duties, so that the training process can be completed without any difficulty.

The letter also requests the Deputy Commissioner/District Returning Officer of each district to ensure the attendance of polling staff during the said training.

The training of election officials is important in order to ensure that the general elections are conducted smoothly and fairly.

The training will cover topics such as the election process, the role of election officials, and the code of conduct for election officials.

The training is expected to help election officials to perform their duties effectively and efficiently.

The training is also expected to help to ensure that the general elections are conducted in a free and fair manner.

I am directed to refer to the subject cited above and to say that after
successful culmination of two days Training of Master Trainers (TOMT).
Training for Election Officials (Presiding Officer, Senior APOS/ POS) are to be
conducted immediately after-Eid holidays.

As you are well aware of the fact that, Board Examinations are
being conducted throughout the province, whereby the teachers would be
engaged as Superintendents / Supervisors / Invigilators.
3.
You are, therefore, advised to approach the Education Authorities
of your district for exemption of those Teaching Staff from Examination duties
who have been appointed as Presiding Officers, Senior Assistant Presiding
Officers and Polling Officers, so that, training process is completed without any
difficulty. It is also requested to approach the Deputy Commissioner/District
Returning Officer of your district for ensuring the attendance of Polling Staff
during the said training.
